Saint Aaron was a holy abbot whose monastery stood on an island off the coast of Brittany. When the great missionary Saint Malo arrived, Saint Aaron welcomed him with Christian charity and shared in the glory of his apostolic labors. Through humility, hospitality, and faithful service to God, Saint Aaron became one of the important figures connected to the evangelization of Brittany.

According to Father Alban Butler's "Lives of the Saints," Saint Aaron governed a monastery on an island separated from the ancient city of Aleth by a tidal channel. His reputation for holiness made him a natural ally of Saint Malo, who found in him a faithful companion in spreading the Gospel. The island later became associated with Saint Malo, and eventually the city of Saint-Malo arose where Saint Aaron's monastery once stood.
