Blessed Gerard of Monza dedicated his entire life to serving Christ in the sick, the poor, and the forgotten. After losing his parents at a young age, he used his inheritance not for personal gain but to establish a hospital for those who could not afford care. He personally searched for the sick, welcomed them with charity, cared for lepers with his own hands, and devoted himself completely to works of mercy.

His reputation for holiness spread throughout Lombardy as countless people experienced healing and comfort through his ministry. During a severe famine, when the hospital's storehouses stood empty, Gerard turned to prayer. According to tradition, the granaries were miraculously filled with grain and the cellars stocked with wine. Another beloved miracle tells of how he provided fresh cherries in the middle of winter after spending a night in prayer.
