Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has paused executions and launched an independent review after convicted murderer Christa Pike survived two execution attempts by lethal injection. She remains hospitalized, unconscious, on a ventilator, and under armed guard. Charles Stimson, acting director of the Legal Policy Center, joins to discuss whether Tennessee can legally attempt to execute her again, whether her sentence could be commuted if she has suffered permanent brain damage, and whether the state, prison officials, or medical personnel could face legal liability over the way the execution was conducted.
