The Catholic Church teaches that surrogacy is gravely immoral; but the stories of surrogate mothers have spurned larger conversation about the moral, legal, and ethical concerns over turning a child into a business transaction. Roselle Reyes speaks to one of those mothers, who says being a surrogate has impacted every facet of her life. Cardinal Ernest Simoni has an incredible story of faith amid persecution. After offering a Mass in 1963 for the soul of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, he was sentenced to death. The sentence was commuted, but he was imprisoned in communist Albania for nearly thirty years under torturous conditions and forced labor. He spends his life now preaching the mercy, love, and compassion of Christ.
