St. Ignatius of Loyola did not want pampered men weakened by the world. He wanted heroic men capable of being transformed by Jesus Christ—and then helping transform the world.

In this powerful Catholic homily, we reflect on St. Ignatius, the formation of the Society of Jesus, and the spiritual discipline that helped shape generations of men.

At the heart of his method were the Spiritual Exercises: prayer, penance, examination of conscience, and a relentless focus on Christ Crucified.

St. Ignatius gives us three unforgettable questions to ask before the Crucifix:

What have I done for Christ Crucified?

What am I doing now for Christ Crucified?

What shall I do tomorrow for Christ Crucified?

These questions force us to examine whether our Catholic faith is merely something we profess—or something that is actually transforming how we live.

The sermon also reflects on AMDG and the conviction that everything—our work, families, crosses, efforts, country, and circumstances—can be offered for the honor and glory of Almighty God.

The world does not need more comfortable Christians.

Changed men change the world.
