Commemorated on August 19, these holy martyrs suffered during the persecution of Christians under the co-emperors Diocletian and Maximian in the year 304.

St. Timothy, a native of Caesarea in Palestine, studied Holy Scripture and was blessed with a gift of eloquence. He became a teacher of the Christian Faith and courageously proclaimed the Gospel.

When brought before the governor Urban, Timothy fearlessly declared himself a Christian and spoke openly about the love of the Lord Jesus Christ for mankind and His coming into the world for our salvation.

Although subjected to cruel torture, Timothy remained steadfast in his love for Christ and received the crown of martyrdom.

In the same city and year, Agapius and Thecla were condemned to be thrown to wild beasts. Through their suffering and fidelity to Christ, they too received their heavenly crowns.

May their courage strengthen us to confess Christ without fear and remain faithful to Him in every trial.
