Discover the inspiring life of St. John of Maida, remembered on September 26th in the Lives of the Saints. Father Alvin recounts how this holy priest from Como joined the Humiliati in Milan during the 12th century, dedicating himself to a life of penance, prayer, and charity.

Guided by the advice of St. Bernard, John of Maida helped shape the community by adapting the Rule of St. Benedict to their needs. He emphasized devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary with the daily recitation of the Little Office and instituted the Office of the Canons for the Brotherhood.

Though the Order of the Humiliati eventually declined and was suppressed in 1571, the legacy of St. John of Maida remains an inspiring example of faith, humility, and dedication to Christ.
