Over 20,000 catechists from nearly 115 countries gathered in Rome from September 26–28 for the Jubilee of Catechists, meeting Pope Leo XIV and celebrating their vocation to guide others in the faith.
During the event, the pontiff encouraged catechists to “serve God’s dream” in their families, workplaces, and communities, emphasizing that faith begins at home but grows through dedicated ministry. The Jubilee included catechesis sessions in six languages, a concert at Santa Andrea delle Valle, and the institution of 39 new catechists from around the world.
Catechists like Patrizia di Resta and Catherine Miles-Flynn shared how their work allows them to live and teach Christ’s message in their daily lives, passing the faith to children, youth, and families everywhere.
The celebration concluded with a special announcement: on November 1, Saint John Henry Newman will be declared a Doctor of the Church, highlighting the vital connection between faith and education.
