Does synodality reshape Catholic ecclesiology?
Is synodality developing Catholic doctrine — or changing it into something else? Lumen Gentium identifies the Church of Christ with the Catholic Church governed by the successor of Peter and the bishops in communion with him. Ut Unum Sint maintains full visible communion as the goal of ecumenism. Dominus Iesus emphatically reasserts the uniqueness and universality of Christ and His Church. But what happens when contemporary synodality speaks instead of reciprocal learning between Christian traditions, of the “peripheries” reshaping the centre, and even declares that there can be “no ecumenism without synodality”?

Dr Larry Chapp's answer is striking:

“It is the latter. It is what St Vincent of Lérins would have called a permutatio of doctrine.”
