Pope Leo approved the advancement of the cause for canonization of Father Edward Flanagan, a beloved Irish-born priest who devoted his life to serving vulnerable children in the United States. He founded “Boys Town,” an organization dedicated to serving impoverished children. Father Flanagan has now been declared Venerable. The next step is beatification, followed by canonization as a saint. Tom Lynch, the official Boys Town historian, joins to share how Father Flanagan is remembered today, what it means to be named Venerable, and the next steps on the path to sainthood.
