While Karina and her children were released the following month as part of a temporary cease-fire, her husband remained in captivity. In December 2023, the Israeli Defense Forces confirmed his death. Now, Karina is still waiting for his remains to be returned — but that has yet to happen. Meanwhile, other families affected by the hostage crisis continue to speak out. One of them is the family of Omer Wenkert, who was held hostage for 505 days before being released.
