St. Joanna the Myrrhbearer is one of the remarkable women who faithfully followed Our Lord Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry. Mentioned by St. Luke in the Holy Gospel, she was the wife of Chuza, steward of King Herod's household, yet she devoted herself to serving Christ alongside the holy women who supported His ministry.

According to sacred tradition, St. Joanna helped recover the holy head of St. John the Baptist after Herodias had attempted to hide it. She later became one of the holy Myrrhbearers who came to the tomb on the morning of Christ's Resurrection and heard the glorious announcement from the angels that He had risen from the dead.
