Welcome! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration on this Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent.
In today’s reverent Homily, Father Dan O'Connell reflects on the "great importance of allowing our God to be primary" in our lives. Drawing from the comforting words of the Prophet Isaiah and the profound discourse of Jesus in the Gospel of John, Father Dan explores the mystery of divine fidelity. He reminds us that even if a mother could forget her infant, God will never forget us, and His Son is ever by our side, offering the gifts that come only from the Father. This Mass is a powerful invitation to move through our Lenten journey with the confidence that we are "schooled by Lenten prayer" and nourished by the "heavenly remedy" of the Eucharist.
The Scriptures highlight the enduring love of the Father and the authority of the Son:
-The First Reading (Isaiah 49:8-15): The Lord speaks of a "time of favor" and a "day of salvation," promising to restore the land and comfort His people. He reassures those who feel abandoned, declaring that He has carved them on the palms of His hands and will never forget them: "Can a mother forget her infant... even should she forget, I will never forget you".
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 145): A proclamation of God's goodness: "The Lord is kind and merciful".
-The Holy Gospel (John 5:17-30): Jesus responds to those who question His work on the Sabbath by revealing His intimate union with the Father: "The Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing". He proclaims that the Father has given the Son the power to give life to whom He wills and has entrusted all judgment to Him, so that all may honor the Son as they honor the Father.
May the heavenly gifts we receive today bring us the protection and grace we need to walk in God's ways and give glory to Him by our lives.
