As the Dormition Fast begins, the Church calls every Christian to prepare—not merely by changing external habits, but by renewing the temple of the soul.

Drawing from 1 Corinthians 3 and the Gospel of St. Peter walking on the water, this homily reflects on why Christ alone must remain the foundation of our lives. Just as we prepare our homes for an honored guest, we are called to prepare our hearts to receive God through prayer, fasting, repentance, and confession.

The Dormition Fast is a beautiful two-week journey leading to the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos. Following the example of the Mother of God, we are invited to deepen our prayer life, attend the Paraclesis service, fast according to our ability, and renew our relationship with Jesus Christ.

May this holy season become a time of spiritual renewal and a reminder that we are temples of the Holy Spirit.
