Blessed Basil of Moscow, also known as St. Basil the Blessed, is one of the most beloved Fools-for-Christ in the Orthodox Church. Commemorated on August 2, St. Basil lived a life of radical humility, fearless truth, and extraordinary holiness.

Born near Moscow in 1468, Basil embraced voluntary poverty and wandered the streets barefoot through every season, exposing hypocrisy, comforting the poor, and calling sinners to repentance. Though many mocked and beat him, God granted him the gifts of prophecy, miracles, discernment, and spiritual vision.
