Pope Leo XIV spent a busy weekend at the Vatican focused on faith, global conflicts, public health concerns, and sports. Pope Leo XIV acknowledged the hantavirus outbreak linked to the cruise ship Hondius, thanking the people and authorities of the Canary Islands for welcoming the vessel. The pontiff also expressed concern over growing violence in the Sahel region of Africa. The pope later met with the prime minister of Haiti, discussing the country’s ongoing crisis caused by gang violence and instability. Pope Leo also met with players from Inter Milan after the club secured the Italian league title. EWTN Vatican journalist Zofia Czubak has more.
