Have you been trying to carry everything by yourself?
Your fears. Your worries. Your disappointments. Your sins. Your family problems. Your future.
Eventually, carrying life alone leaves us exhausted, discouraged, and asking, “Where is God?”
But perhaps the better question is: Have I truly invited God to carry this burden with me?
In this powerful Christian homily, we are challenged to confront one of the greatest obstacles in the spiritual life: self-sufficiency.
The world constantly tells us to “believe in yourself.” The Gospel teaches us something greater: trust in Jesus Christ.
We cannot control tomorrow, erase yesterday, heal every broken heart, or force the people we love to make the right decisions. Recognizing our limitations is not meant to create fear—it is meant to produce humility.
Prayer teaches us to say:
“Lord, I cannot do this on my own. Help me.”
Fasting teaches us to say yes to God instead of always saying yes to ourselves.
And faith grows through small daily choices:
🙏 Every time we pray.
❤️ Every time we forgive.
⛪ Every time we choose church.
✝️ Every honest confession.
🍞 Every reception of the Holy Eucharist.
🕊️ Every time we turn back to Christ after falling.
God does not ask us to become extraordinary overnight.
He asks us to trust Him today.
If you are exhausted from trying to carry everything alone, turn again to Jesus Christ.
