Glory to Jesus Christ! This homily for the Sunday before the Exaltation of the Holy Cross invites us to ask a hard question: Is the Cross just decoration—or a daily decision? The world says “protect your comfort,” but the Gospel calls us to love, forgive, and serve. The Cross is not jewelry or artwork; it’s the power of God and the pattern of Christian life.

Drawing on John 3:16 and the lifting of the serpent in the desert, we remember that the Cross measures God’s love—not when we were worthy, but when it cost Him everything. What does carrying the Cross look like today? Parents sacrificing sleep; spouses placing each other first; students refusing to cheat; Christians at work enduring misunderstanding rather than compromising the faith. Most crosses are hidden in small, faithful choices.

As we approach the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, let’s begin bowing in our hearts—choosing one small act this week: forgiveness, sacrifice, prayer, or a word of truth. May we glory not in ourselves but in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
