Byzantine Saints: Saint Veronica (Bernice), the woman with the issue of blood (12 July)

St. Veronica (Bernice), commemorated on July 12, is traditionally identified as the woman with the issue of blood who was miraculously healed by Our Lord Jesus Christ after twelve years of suffering.
After exhausting all her resources on physicians without relief, Veronica approached Christ with unwavering faith, believing that simply touching the hem of His garment would restore her health. Immediately she was healed. Turning to the crowd, Jesus declared:
"Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace." (Mark 5:34)
Filled with gratitude, St. Veronica honored Christ by erecting a statue before her home. According to ancient Christian tradition, a miraculous healing herb sprang up at its base, bringing relief to many who came seeking God's mercy. She later became a faithful member of the early Church and lived a holy life until her blessed repose.
This inspiring account reminds us that true faith, humility, and trust in Christ are never ignored by God.
