The 45 Holy Martyrs of Nicopolis in Armenia courageously presented themselves before the persecutors during the reign of Emperor Licinius (A.D. 311–324), choosing suffering and death rather than denying Jesus Christ.

Led by St. Leontius and his companions, these heroic Christians openly confessed the true Faith, boldly refuted pagan idolatry, endured brutal torture, imprisonment, and mutilation, and remained steadfast while singing the Psalms. During their imprisonment, an angel appeared in brilliant light, announcing that their names had already been written in Heaven. Even two prison guards were converted by witnessing this miracle.

Their final confession echoed through history:

"We are Christians! We are Christians!"

Their witness reminds every Christian that fidelity to Christ is worth every earthly sacrifice.
