The Holy Church celebrates the Nativity of the Holy Glorious Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist John on June 24. Unlike most saints whose feast days commemorate their death, St. John the Baptist is one of the few saints whose birth is celebrated by the Church because of his unique role in salvation history.

In this video, we explore the miraculous birth of St. John the Baptist, the son of the righteous priest Zachariah and Elizabeth. Through the announcement of the Archangel Gabriel, the visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the naming of John, and the martyrdom of Zachariah, we see God's providential preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ.

Called the greatest among those born of women, St. John the Baptist was chosen to prepare the way of the Lord, preach repentance, and ultimately baptize Christ in the Jordan River.
