Throughout Scripture, mountains are places of profound encounter with God. Moses receives the Law on Mount Sinai, Elijah encounters the Lord on Mount Horeb, and Jesus repeatedly withdraws to the mountains to pray. Fr Emmanuel explores how the mountain of the Transfiguration becomes a place of revelation, where the disciples come to see Jesus not only as their teacher and friend, but as the Son of God in all His majesty.

This Gospel reflection also invites us to recognise that prayer is our own journey up the mountain with Christ. Although prayer can sometimes feel difficult, ordinary or even dry, it is through faithfully making time for the Lord that we begin to know Him more deeply. Like Peter, James and John, we are invited into a privileged encounter with Jesus that strengthens us to carry our own crosses with hope, faith and confidence in His presence.
