Lent, mortification, self sacrifice, faith and fitness, Catholic fitness, Christian discipline — this is how I’m living Romans 12 in real time.
In this video, I take you into the gym with me at 4:30 in the morning as part of my Lenten mortification. This is not a workout tutorial. This is about presenting the body as a living sacrifice and training the will to follow the Spirit.
Romans 12 calls us to offer our bodies.
Romans 8 speaks about putting to death the deeds of the flesh.
Jesus spent forty days in the desert facing hunger, temptation, and resistance.
Lent is not about surface level sacrifice. It is a season to establish discipline, build habits, and strengthen the will in ways that last beyond Easter.
We talk about:
– Mortifying the flesh and mastering impulses
– Resistance as spiritual formation
– The sacredness of the body because of the Incarnation
– Offering up suffering in union with Calvary
– The Eucharist as the true source of strength
– How to grow in holiness whether you train in a gym or not
The body is not disposable.
It is not an accident.
It was called very good.
Whether you lift weights or walk around your neighborhood, you are called to strength of character, discipline of mind, and integration of body and soul.
If you want help building discipline and integrating faith with your physical life, visit my website and book a call. Let’s train the will and strengthen the temple together.
