It's not unusual for folks to claim the Catholic Church is not the Church founded by Jesus because we can find among her clergy and leaders evil men, charlatans, and those who cause great scandal through their sinful lives and behavior. In our long study through Matthew's Gospel, we meet (among the 12 Apostles) Judas Iscariot -- always identified as "the one who betrayed Jesus." Does the betrayal of Jesus by Judas nullify the authority Jesus has invested in His Church (and the other Apostles who were faithful to him)?
