A recently released Vatican report from the 2024 Synod on Synodality is drawing significant criticism, with some accusing it of presenting a “false and unjust” portrayal of an influential Catholic ministry. The report includes testimonies from two men who are civilly married to other men. One of them claims to have attended meetings with Courage International in the past, describing it as “secretive and hidden.” Courage International is a canonically approved apostolate that ministers to men and women experiencing same-sex attraction. Mary Rice Hasson, who serves as a board member of Courage International, joins to explain what the report says and why Courage International takes issue with it. She also shares the response she has seen from priests and lay Catholics since the report was released.
