Merry Christmas! The Christ child is born.

Fr. Bonaventure Chapman, O.P., shares a Dominican way of seeing Christmas: the child in the manger is already the Savior who goes to the Cross. Christmas is ordered toward Easter. The Word takes flesh so that he may suffer, die, and rise for us. What looks small and ordinary is the beginning of everything.

As you pause before the nativity this Christmas, look again. Within the crib are the Cross and the Resurrection.
