St. Edward the Martyr, King of England, stands as one of the most powerful examples of holiness in youth and leadership. Crowned at just 13 years old after the death of his father, King Edgar, Edward ruled with remarkable virtue, guided by the wisdom of St. Dunstan.

Despite his purity, humility, and charity toward the poor, his reign was tragically cut short by betrayal. His own stepmother, driven by ambition to place her son Ethelred on the throne, orchestrated his murder. On March 18, 979, the young king was stabbed and martyred—becoming a witness to Christ through innocence and suffering.
