Bishop Rob Mutsaerts has a message for Catholics: if your parish endangers your faith, find another one. Speaking at the Catholic Identity Conference, the bishop advised Catholics to seek out a parish with reverent liturgy and sound teaching rather than remain where their faith could be harmed. He encouraged young Catholics and families to find thriving communities with other young people and children.
Mutsaerts also criticized synodality, noting that years of synodal activity have produced little discernible fruit. Frank Wright connects the bishop's remarks to a wider criticism of modernism, relativism, and secularism within the Church. The bishop's recommendations: attend a properly celebrated Mass, pray the Rosary, seek truth, and read sound Catholic literature.
Frank also recommends The Profession of the Catholic Faith to Enlightened Souls in the Face of Modern Errors, arguing that Catholics should return to traditional doctrine rather than become discouraged by the contemporary Church crisis. A bishop telling Catholics to leave bad parishes. A bishop admitting synodality has failed. A bishop pointing back to tradition.
