In this episode, we’re going straight to Scripture to look at the whole cradle Catholic vs. convert conversation from a new angle — because honestly, the Word of God has something powerful to say about it.
The inspiration for this reflection came straight from today’s Mass readings: Romans 1:16–25 and Luke 11:37–41. These passages hit me hard in the pew because they reveal a deep truth about the Church today — that it’s possible to know God and yet not glorify Him.
St. Paul reminds us that when we stop worshiping the Creator, we start worshiping comfort, pride, ideology, or even tradition itself. And Jesus calls out the Pharisees for cleaning the outside of the cup while leaving the inside dirty — for appearing holy but neglecting the heart.
This message is for all of us: cradle Catholics who’ve reduced faith to culture or routine, and converts who may sometimes mistake form for substance. Holiness begins within. The Church doesn’t need more debates — it needs more saints.
Whether cradle or convert, it’s time to let Christ cleanse the inside of the cup and live unashamed of the Gospel.
