President Donald Trump is calling Texas lawmakers’ approval of redistricting plan a “big win” for Republicans as it advances toward final passage. It will add five new GOP-leaning congressional seats, but now the attention is turning to California, where state Republicans are suing to stop Democrats from pushing their redistricting plan forward. California’s Supreme Court rejected the GOP lawsuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court is not taking up the case, at least for now. However, state Republicans plan to file other lawsuits in the near future. Governor Newsom plans to continue with his effort to hold a special election this year to obtain voter approval to undo the constitutional amendments that created the non-partisan redistricting commission. A two-thirds majority vote is needed. Capitol Hill Correspondent Erik Rosales reports.
