How much of our life is shaped by perspective?

Fr. Mark-Mary Ames points to what he sees as the root of many sins: a distorted perspective. When we fall into comparison, it doesn’t just steal our joy, it can quietly open the door to envy, greed, lust, and more.

But what would change if we shifted our perspective from comparison to gratitude?

If gratitude doesn’t come easily, Fr. Mark-Mary offers three simple truths to return to each day. These are reminders that can pull us out of a negative mindset and guard us against sin that grows from a warped perspective:

1. You didn’t have to exist, but you do.
2. We turned away from God, yet He stepped in to rescue us and open the way to eternal life.
3. We are so deeply loved that God gave His Son so we could be with Him forever.
