Fr. Cajetan Cuddy, O.P. reflects on Luke 12, where our Lord tells the parable of the rich man whose land produced a bountiful harvest. In this Gospel passage, Jesus reveals that money and resources can’t make one happy—they are ordered to other things. The Christian is reminded that the truth of the Christian life is a truth... founded in reality, and that sin is not broken rules and broken commandments—it’s disorder that frustrates and harms the human person. Jesus warns us not to store up treasures for themselves, but be rich in what matters to God. Whether in abundance or poverty, the saint says: I have Jesus.
