Today’s homily reflects on two powerful Gospel passages from St. Luke: the parable of the Good Samaritan and the healing of the ten lepers—one of whom, a Samaritan, returned to give thanks.

The Fathers of the Church draw both allegorical and moral lessons:

Allegorical Sense: The Good Samaritan represents Christ, who brings healing where the Old Law could not. The healed Samaritan leper symbolizes the grateful Christian, redeemed by grace.

Moral Sense: We are called to practice mercy like the Good Samaritan, and to imitate the healed leper in gratitude—especially for the gift of being Catholic.

Father also shares his personal testimony of baptism in 1996, his journey through seminary, and his deep gratitude for serving at St. Mary’s these past 14 years.

This sermon invites us to:
✨ Recognize God’s grace in our lives
✨ Show gratitude in prayer and daily living
✨ Remain faithful as Catholics in a world that has lost its way

Be that “one in ten” who returns to thank God on your knees—for the gift of faith, for the Church, and for the sacraments of salvation.
