Byzantine Saints: Martyr DrosΞ―s, daughter of Emperor Trajan (22 March)

On March 22, the Church commemorates Saint Drosis, the daughter of Emperor Trajan, alongside the Five Holy Virgin Martyrs: Aglaia, Apollinaria, Daria, Mamusa, and Thais.
In a time of brutal Christian persecution, these courageous virgins risked their lives to secretly bury the bodies of martyrsβhonoring them with dignity despite the emperorβs decree. When discovered, they were sentenced to a horrific death in a furnace, receiving the crown of martyrdom.
Among them was Drosis, a secret Christian and daughter of the very emperor persecuting the faithful. Refusing her imperial status, she chose Christ. Before offering herself in martyrdom, she miraculously baptized herself, preparing her soul as a pure offering to God.
