On Sunday, May 18, 2025, Pope Leo XIV officially began his pontificate before vast crowds gathered in St. Peter’s Square — a historic moment unfolding at the very heart of the Jubilee Year of Hope.
This inauguration marked the beginning of a new papal era during an extraordinary Holy Year: a Jubilee opened by one pope and carried forward by another, only the second time this has happened in the Church’s history. As pilgrims poured into Rome in record numbers, curiosity turned into encounter — a people on pilgrimage, now guided by a new Successor of Peter.
From his first words, “Peace be with you,” Pope Leo XIV set the tone of his pontificate. Echoing the greeting of the Risen Christ, his message of peace became the guiding thread of the Jubilee: a peace that is both God’s gift and humanity’s responsibility.
This video follows the defining moments of the Jubilee under Pope Leo XIV:
• unprecedented pilgrimages through the Holy Doors
• massive Jubilee audiences and liturgies across Rome
• a renewed call to spiritual depth in a fractured world
• a powerful appeal to disarm words, images, and violence
• the Youth Jubilee, drawing more than one million young people
• the canonization of Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis
• a Church that places the poor, prisoners, and the marginalized at its center
As the Jubilee draws toward its close, Pope Leo XIV carries its message to the peripheries — not only geographical, but spiritual — reminding the world that no one is excluded from the heart of the Church.
🕊️ A Jubilee of peace. A pilgrimage of hope. A new chapter for the Church.
