Welcome! Join The CatholicTV Network for the full Daily Catholic Mass celebration on this Monday of the Second Week of Lent.
In today’s gentle and inspiring Homily, Father Robert Casey reflects on the "season of the heart," inviting us to embrace a more peaceful and merciful way of living. Drawing from the life of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, Father Casey explores how choosing kindness in small, hidden moments can slowly transform our hearts from the inside out. We are encouraged to let our burdens of resentment and judgment rest in God's hands, trusting in the promise that as we give, gifts will be returned to us in "overflowing" measure. This Mass is a powerful reminder that every act of patience and quiet forgiveness is a great act of love in the eyes of our Divine Physician.
The Scriptures highlight the depth of human contrition and the abundance of Divine compassion:
-The First Reading (Daniel 9:4b-10): The prophet Daniel offers a humble confession on behalf of his people, acknowledging that they have rebelled and departed from God's commandments. He proclaims that while "shame-facedness" belongs to humanity for its treachery, "compassion and forgiveness" belong to the Lord our God.
-The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 79): A plea for deliverance: "Lord, do not deal with us according to our sins".
-The Holy Gospel (Luke 6:36-38): Jesus delivers a foundational teaching on the ethics of the Kingdom: "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful". He commandingly instructs His disciples to stop judging and condemning, promising that the measure we use to measure others will be the measure returned to us—a good measure, "packed together, shaken down, and overflowing".
May this Communion cleanse us of our wrongdoing and make us heirs to the joy of heaven as we continue to chasten our bodies for the healing of our souls.

Theological & Liturgical Context
-Season: Monday of the Second Week of Lent.
-Gospel Focus: The Reciprocity of Grace; Jesus reveals that mercy is not just a command but a spiritual law—when we release others through forgiveness, we are ourselves released into the freedom and peace of God's heart.
-Homily Key Message: Lent is an opportunity to strengthen our hearts to "carry out your loving commands"; even when we don't "feel" like forgiving, the outward choice to be kind allows God to work quietly within us to soften our sharp edges.
