What does it mean when the same names keep reappearing at the very top of the Church?
In this video, I examine the renewed visibility of Cardinal Roger Mahony and place it within a much wider and deeply troubling pattern—one that stretches from Mahony to McCarrick, from Chicago to Rome, and now into the early signals of Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate.
This is not a rant. It is a careful reconstruction of facts that many Catholics sense but struggle to articulate.
We look at why Archbishop José Gómez took the unprecedented step of removing Mahony from public ministry in 2013, why that decision mattered, and why Mahony’s later rehabilitation under Pope Francis cannot be dismissed as an isolated anomaly. From McCarrick’s extraordinary comeback and praise in progressive Catholic media, to the prominence of figures like Cardinal Cupich, a consistent pattern emerges: failure is minimised, scandal is managed, and networks remain intact.
Most importantly, I ask a question that many faithful Catholics are afraid to voice aloud:
What message does this send to abuse survivors, to priests striving for holiness, and to lay Catholics who have remained loyal through decades of confusion?
This video presses Pope Leo XIV directly—but calmly, respectfully, and without polemic—because the stakes are too high for theatrics. The credibility of the Church, the trust of the faithful, and the moral clarity of the papacy itself are on the line.
If you care about truth, accountability, and the future of the Catholic Church, this conversation matters.
