October 7 — Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary 🙏
Before it was Our Lady of the Rosary, it was Our Lady of Victory. Here's why:
On October 7, 1571, a badly outnumbered Christian fleet faced the Ottoman navy at the Battle of Lepanto. Pope St. Pius V called all of Europe to pray the Rosary — and led a Rosary procession through Rome while the battle raged.
The smaller fleet won. Thousands of Christian slaves were freed. The Pope credited Our Lady's intercession and instituted this feast as Our Lady of Victory. It later became the feast we celebrate today.
"Why pray to Mary when you can go straight to God?" Because God didn't go straight to us — He came through Mary.m
And here's what people miss: Jesus condemned empty babbling, not repetition. He prayed the same words three times in Gethsemane (Matt 26:44). Psalm 136 repeats one line 26 times. Heaven never stops saying "Holy, holy, holy" (Rev 4:8).
Repetition isn't the problem. Emptiness is.
To my Protestant brothers and sisters: I'm not asking you to pray it. I'm asking you to look at the history before you dismiss it.
👇 What's the prayer you repeat when life gets hard — and why?
