Why does it matter what you believe, if you're a good person? Is faith reasonable or is it blind? When is a faith a gift? And is believing in the Christian faith just the same as believing in the 'Flying Spaghetti Monster'?
In this episode, Fr John and Fr Toby explore the virtue of Faith, which is all about how what you believe shapes everything you do.

Fr John and Fr Toby explore one of the biggest questions in philosophy and religion: Is faith opposed to reason—or does it fulfill it?
If you’ve ever wondered whether believing in God is rational, struggled with doubt, or felt drawn to faith but unsure how to begin, this conversation dives deep into the Catholic understanding of faith as both a gift and a reasonable way of knowing.
In this episode:
Faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does.
Whether you're exploring Catholicism, Christian philosophy, theology, or the relationship between science and religion, this episode offers a thoughtful, grounded, and inspiring perspective.
You don’t reason your way fully into faith—you’re invited into it. And by living it, you begin to understand it.
A key theme throughout the discussion is that faith and reason can never ultimately contradict each other, because both come from the same source: God, who is truth itself. Human reason can lead us to certain truths about God, but revelation takes us further, inviting us into mysteries that go beyond what we could discover on our own. These mysteries are not irrational; rather, they are inexhaustible truths—realities so rich that they can never be fully comprehended.
This episode also addresses the role of evidence in belief. Fr John and Fr Toby discuss 'motives of credibility,' such as miracles, the fulfilment of prophecy, and especially the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, as signs that make belief reasonable. At the same time, they emphasise that these do not force faith—they prepare the ground for it. Ultimately, faith involves trusting in God as a reliable witness, not just accepting a set of arguments.
