St. Triphyllius (Trifilius), Bishop of Leucosia (Nicosia), Cyprus, is commemorated on June 13. Born in Constantinople and educated in the renowned city of Beirut, he was gifted with remarkable intelligence and eloquence. Yet despite his learning, he sought spiritual guidance from one of the greatest saints of the Church—St. Spyridon of Trimythous.

This inspiring account reveals the close relationship between master and disciple. St. Triphyllius accompanied St. Spyridon when they were summoned to the court of Emperor Constantius II, whose miraculous healing came through the prayers of the saints. Throughout his life, St. Spyridon continually instructed his disciple in humility, teaching him to seek heavenly treasures rather than earthly glory.

As Bishop of Nicosia, St. Triphyllius became known for his charity, orthodoxy, wisdom, and pastoral care. He built a monastery from his inheritance and faithfully shepherded his flock until his repose around the year 370.
