Hieromartyr Abramius, Bishop of Arbela, is commemorated by the Church on February 4. He was a courageous shepherd of Christ’s flock in Assyria, martyred during a fierce persecution of Christians in Persia under King Shapur II.

When authorities demanded that Saint Abramius renounce Christ and worship the sun, he boldly replied:

“How foolish it is to forsake the Creator and worship creatures. Is not the sun itself a creation of my God?”

For this fearless confession of the true Faith, the holy bishop was beaten and brutally tortured. During his suffering, Saint Abramius prayed with the words of Christ Himself:

“Lord, do not count this sin against them, for they know not what they do.”

Remaining faithful unto death, the Hieromartyr Abramius was beheaded by the sword in the village of Felman, sealing his witness to Christ with his blood.

🔥 His life reminds us that true masculinity is fidelity to Christ, even unto death.
