Jesus did not have to die on the cross. He chose freely to endure suffering, injustice and death out of love for all people. His sacrifice was not only physical but also emotional, psychological and spiritual, including the experience of abandonment and betrayal. By willingly embracing the cross, Jesus demonstrates how far God’s love reaches.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of Christian faith because it offers forgiveness, salvation and the promise of eternal life. Every act of suffering, when united with Christ, can be transformed into a source of hope, strength, and spiritual growth.
In this video, Sr Carino and Sr Hyacinthe explore:
About The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is the most important event in human history. It refers to the execution of Jesus by Roman authorities, where He was nailed to a cross and died to redeem humanity from sin. Jesus’ death was not only a historical event but also a divine act of love and salvation.
Jesus did not have to die but He freely chose the cross as the ultimate expression of His love for humanity. His crucifixion demonstrates the consequences of sin and the extraordinary mercy of God. By willingly embracing the cross, Jesus offered forgiveness to all and made it possible for humanity to be reconciled with God.
About Good Friday
Good Friday is one of the most important days in Christianity, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary. Observed during Holy Week on the Friday before Easter Sunday, it marks the moment that Jesus gave his life through sacrificial love for the salvation of humanity.
Despite its somber nature, Good Friday is called 'good' because of the profound hope it represents, as through the suffering and death of Jesus Christ comes forgiveness, redemption and the promise of eternal life.
