Filmed inside the beautiful Rosary Shrine near Hampstead Heath, this video uncovers how Catholic churches teach the Bible visually through stained glass, sculpture, chapels, and sacred symbolism. From the Annunciation and the Passion of Christ to the Resurrection, Pentecost, and the Coronation of Our Lady, discover how every mystery of the Rosary is rooted in Scripture and points toward the saving mission of Christ.
Fr Lawrence explains the Catholic understanding of biblical typology, showing how Old Testament stories, such as Abraham and Isaac, foreshadow Jesus carrying the Cross and becoming the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Through meditation on the Rosary mysteries, we are invited to contemplate suffering, redemption, eternal life and the promise of sharing in Christ’s glory.

About the Rosary
The Holy Rosary is one of the most beloved and powerful prayers in the Catholic Church, rooted deeply in the Bible and centred on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through the Mysteries of the Rosary, we meditate on key moments in salvation history. Far more than repetitive prayer, the Rosary is a biblical meditation that draws Christians into the heart of the Gospel.
Prayed for centuries by saints and popes and believers around the world, the Rosary combines vocal prayer with contemplation of Scripture. Each decade invites reflection on the mysteries of Christ’s life while asking for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
The Rosary is divided into four sets of mysteries: the Joyful Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries, the Glorious Mysteries and the Luminous Mysteries. Together, these mysteries reveal God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ and help believers grow in faith, hope, holiness, and devotion. Catholics around the world pray the Rosary for peace, healing, spiritual protection, guidance and a deeper relationship with God.
About the St Dominic's Priory, The Rosary Shrine
Located in northwest London near Hampstead Heath, this magnificent Dominican church, formally known as the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary and St Dominic, has served as a centre of prayer, preaching, sacred beauty and devotion since the 19th century.
Built in 1883 and entrusted to the Dominican Friars, St Dominic’s Priory is renowned around the world as London’s Rosary Shrine and was officially designated a diocesan Shrine of the Holy Rosary by Cardinal Vincent Nichols in 2016. The church is considered one of the largest Catholic churches in London and is famous for its breathtaking Neo-Gothic architecture, richly decorated chapels, sacred art, stained glass and profound connection to the Holy Rosary.
The Rosary Shrine is unique because its entire design is based on the structure of the Rosary itself. Surrounding the nave are fifteen beautifully carved chapels dedicated to the traditional Mysteries of the Rosary — the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries — creating a visual meditation on the life of Jesus Christ and the story of salvation. It is believed to be the first church in the world designed with a distinct chapel for every Mystery of the Rosary.
