After 16 years of leading the Archdiocese of New York, Cardinal Dolan’s resignation letter has been accepted by Pope Leo XIV. Cardinal Timothy Dolan was installed as the 10th Archbishop of New York on April 15, 2009, and was elevated to Cardinal just three years later. Known for his large personality and deep appreciation of American Church history, Dolan has left a significant mark on both the Archdiocese of New York and the broader American Church.
