In this video, Fr Nicholas Crowe OP explores the Catholic understanding of vocation and what it means to respond to God’s call. Our vocation is ultimately a call to perfect happiness with God in heaven, but within that universal vocation, God calls each of us to particular ways of living out a life of charity.

Our vocation may include marriage, priesthood, religious life, a particular job or profession, caring for others, a mission, or simply responding generously to the opportunities God places before us each day.

Fr Nicholas also considers the relationship between a career and a vocation. Our work may be central to our vocation, but it can also play an important supporting role—helping us live out our vocation to family, service, charity and holiness.
