On April 21, the Church commemorates the heroic witness of St. Theodore of Perge, his mother St. Philippa, and the martyrs Dioscorus, Socrates, and Dionysius, who suffered for Christ during the reign of Emperor Antoninus Pius.

In this powerful account, these holy martyrs refuse to worship idols despite brutal persecution. Subjected to fire, torture, and humiliation, they remain steadfast in their faith. By the power of God, flames are extinguished, miracles unfold, and even soldiers are converted upon witnessing divine intervention.

🔥 A furnace becomes cool as dew
🔥 A heavenly chariot descends
✝️ And in the end—faith triumphs through martyrdom

St. Theodore is ultimately crucified after enduring unimaginable trials, fulfilling a prophecy revealed to his mother at his birth. His mother, St. Philippa, courageously encourages him to remain faithful to Christ even unto death.

This story reminds us of the cost of true discipleship and the glory that awaits those who persevere.
