On April 8, the Church commemorates St. Pausilippus (Posalipus) of Heraclea in Thrace, a courageous martyr who suffered under Emperor Hadrian for boldly proclaiming his faith in Christ.

Denounced by pagans and brought before the authorities, St. Pausilippus refused to deny Christ despite brutal torture. Beaten with iron rods and pressured to sacrifice to idols, he remained steadfast. Even in chains, his faith did not waver.

In a miraculous moment, God granted him strength to break free from his iron fetters. Yet, as he fled, weakened from suffering, he surrendered his soul to God. His witness reminds us that true strength comes not from the body, but from unwavering faith in Christ.
