Fr. Cajetan Cuddy, O.P. reflects on Philippians 4:13 and Saint Paul's declaration: “I can do all things in him who strengthens me.”
We often understand this verse as a promise that Jesus will strengthen us to accomplish the things we desire. But Saint Paul reveals something deeper. Whether living in abundance or in need, in success or in failure, his strength comes from having Christ at the center of his life.
Jesus is not simply an instrument for obtaining the things we want. He is our Savior, our beginning, our middle, and our end. Everything else finds its proper place in relation to Him.
The secret of Saint Paul's contentment is not that every circumstance works out as he desires, but that he has Jesus in every circumstance.
We can face all things because Christ is our all.
