109 years after the Miracle of the Sun, Sister Lucia's last free interview still stands as Fatima's sharpest warning: the gravest danger isn't war, it's losing our souls. Before visits to her were restricted, she told Fr. Agustín Fuentes the devil's first target: souls consecrated to God.

On the anniversary of October 13, 1917, Joe McClane walks through what happened at the Cova da Iria before 70,000 witnesses, then through Sister Lucia's conversation with Fr. Agustín Fuentes, who led the cause of Francisco and Jacinta. Our Lady is sad that neither the good nor the bad heed her. A chastisement is near. The devil is waging a decisive battle. And God has given two last remedies: the Holy Rosary and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Joe also sets Fatima beside the same warnings from Bl. Elizabeth Canori Mora (Rome, 1815), the Virgin of Revelation (Rome, 1947) and Our Lady of Akita (Oct. 13, 1973). Plus: please pray for Pope Leo XIV as he undergoes lung surgery at Rome's Gemelli Hospital today.

SCRIPTURE (Douay-Rheims):

• Apocalypse 12:4 — "And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth."
• Jeremias 3:15 — "And I will give you pastors according to my own heart, and they shall feed you with knowledge and doctrine."
• Acts 20:29 — "I know that, after my departure, ravening wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock."
