Is Protestant ordination biblical? Is Protestant spiritual authority from God or from man? Former Protestant pastor Kenny Burchard and William Michael, founder and headmaster of the Classical Liberal Arts Academy -- both converts to Catholicism -- put that question to the Book of Acts, and what they found led both of them out of Protestant ministry and into the Catholic Church. Here's the chronology: the apostles replace Judas by casting lots (Acts 1), the Apostles ordain the first deacons with their own hands (Acts 6), and Paul, blind and unbaptized after Damascus, is brought into the church by a Church leader, Ananias, before Paul preaches a word (Acts 9). Then Paul tells Timothy his gift came "through the laying on of my hands" (2 Timothy 1:6). So where does the Bible show ordination by a seminary, a self-governing congregation, or a mail-in certificate making a pastor? Kenny shares the question that haunted his own ordination, and William explains why all this convinced him that Protestants don't actually believe in sola scriptura. If they did, they would never think their own ordinations are Biblical!
